Child safety officer

Written for each member of a school's staff, from the registrar to IT, and the families using the portal.

For the child safety officer named in the school's policy, who records a concern and the reports made about it against the statutory clock.

All guides, including the first steps each member of staff takes. The training for this role takes these tasks in sessions.

Record a child-safety concern

A student's record, "Health and wellbeing" tab, "Child safety"

Needs childsafety.concern.write.

  1. Open the student's record, choose the "Health and wellbeing" tab and find "Child safety".
  2. Press "Record a concern" and choose the "Kind", such as "Disclosure" or "Reportable conduct".
  3. Fill "What was received". Under "The clock", set "Received" and choose "Reported under".
  4. Press "Record the concern". Its clock starts at once.

Record a report to the authorities

The concern, from "Open concerns across the school"

Needs childsafety.concern.write.

  1. Open the concern.
  2. Press "Record an event" and choose "Reported" or "Commission notified".
  3. Choose "Made to", fill "When" and "Reference", and attach the report form if you have it.
  4. Press "Record the event". The concern then reads "Reported".

Needs childsafety.concern.read.

  1. Press "Open concerns across the school".
  2. Read "Due by" and "Report" for each. A concern past its day reads "Overdue".
